Cross Connection Control Plan
Cross-Connection Control (CCC) protects public health by preventing backflow—the reverse flow of water or other substances—into the UPUD water system. A cross-connection is any actual or potential link between the public drinking water system and a source that could introduce contamination. Common examples include private wells, irrigation systems, fire sprinklers with additives, swimming pools or spas with automatic fill devices, and booster pumps.
Why it Matters (for UPUD customers)
- Prevents contaminants from entering the community’s water
- Required by California regulations and UPUD’s program
- Quick for customers to complete, and helps us identify where backflow protection is needed
If our survey or inspection identifies a hazard, UPUD will guide you on the appropriate protection and testing—usually simple steps with annual checkups.
Who needs to complete the Survey?
Please complete the survey if any of the following apply:
- You are a new UPUD customer or your property use changed (added irrigation, fire sprinklers, pool/spa, business on site, booster pump, etc.)
- You have or plan to install an auxiliary water source (private well, surface water, etc)
- You received a notice from UPUD requesting an update
Residential, commercial, and agricultural customers may all be subject to CCC requirements
